There are Europeans* out there, let us say a fair share of them, who are referring to the American culture as if it were a disease. What bothers these sleepy Europeans?
I understand that some Arabs dislike the United States. They are living in fucked up countries, where war and violence are every day activities. If, instead, these people were able to co-operate and to build something together, they would be able to challenge their big opponent. Now they are stuck with jealousy, and pretend to have an Allah-approved license to kill. With destruction in mind, one cannot build.
What is to be disliked about America?
I think I know the answer. Their inherited richness has made Europeans loose touch with reality. Idealism is a modern day religion. Some people suffer. It is being called abject. But what if suffering is the only way to growth and gaining strength? Then, these idealists are taking our societies to the abyss.
America is bad. They write on their HP computer, using the latest Windows Vista and MSN messenger. America is too powerful. They tell their neighbour in seat 7D of a Boeing 767. America makes people suffer. They tell people on their Motorola phone, built using the latest technologies from Texas Instruments. All the bad things come from America, they say, as they watch CNN through an American satellite connection. Hypocrites.
I advise these Europeans to get off the train, called life. Americans value struggle. Individual overcoming. Americans like life. Life here and now. Not like (some of) the Arabs, who trade the certainty of life here for a self-created certainty of a life after death. Americans do not need to kill in the name of God or Allah. Americans respect differences, and they leave the final judgement to God or Allah.
Most Europeans were born rich. They do not have memories of Americans (British and Canadians) liberating them from fellow, but violent, Europeans. They do not see images of workers entering the gates of factories and mines. Instead they are consuming the wealth created by those workers. They think that idealising alone brings bread to the table. How much I wish these people would starve. It would instantly teach them to value life.
Europeans are indulged. They think they are entitled to everything without doing anything. They demand a ‘good’ life. But by doing so, they become weak. Their social programmes are honey for those who do not want. They will eat at the expense of those who cannot. At some point, Europeans will appreciate ‘Americanism’ and competition again. Let us hope for them that they will find out before they descend to crawl through the gutter.
I stand for Anti-Europeanism: anti-laziness, anti-stealing, anti-complaining, anti-bureaucracy, anti-correctness, anti-equality, anti-protectionism, anti-free-riding, anti-paternalism…
